A few years ago, when there was very little travel possible, my husband and I went to Oak Bluffs, MA, for the first time (for two nights). It was so beautiful and wonderful, and I really wanted to paint there one day. The next year, we again stayed there, this time for three days, and I was able to do some watercolor paintings. My favorite place to paint is Sengekontacket Pond –– I love the blues and greens and never get tired of painting it! This past year, thanks to my time painting with my dear friend Susan Homer in Maine, I felt emboldened to use oil paints, which I really love for capturing the feeling of the water, grasses, and sky. I also think oil paints (or at least gouache) work well for capturing the feeling of the beautiful clay cliffs of Aquinnah as well.
